The Future of Law Lab provides a platform to participate in collaborative initiatives that explore the intersection of law, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. The Lab gives students opportunities to learn about cutting-edge technology and innovative problem-solving models in our speaker series, participate in case simulation workshops designed to build your practical skills, and try out unique career paths through our summer programs. During this session, you will learn more about how you can get involved with the Future of Law Lab this year.

Additionally, students can volunteer for our Future of Law Lab working group focusing on gamification of innovations. Gamification—the introduction of elements of play and gaming into otherwise everyday activities—has disrupted legal frameworks. It lets ridesharing apps influence drivers into acting like employees and stock trading apps nudge clients into taking on too much risk and trading too frequently. But gamification is tough to regulate because, like most innovations, it isn’t inherently bad. This project aims to find a way to sort out good gamification from bad gamification and develop policy recommendations aimed at addressing the effects of bad gamification without discouraging the use of good gamification. This is an opportunity to engage with high-profile issues, build your skills as a writer and researcher, and gain experience presenting your work to regulators and other practitioners.

Please attend this information session to learn about the volunteer opportunities available this year at the Investor Protection Clinic and the Future of Law Lab. Refer to the updated Public Interest Programs Joint Volunteer Recruitment Process guidelines for more details about how to get involved with our programs. We look forward to meeting and working with you!
